The Vatican is apparently looking to rebrand. In a story running under the headline “Vatican Hires Accenture Interactive for Online Rebranding Assignment,” MediaPost reports that the Vatican has formed a strategic partnership with the agency.

The objective, the story reports, is to create a new online identity where “one spiritual word is more simply and fluidly reaching believers of diverse cultures, all over the world.”

MediaPost reports that there was no formal pitch, “but a single source, multiple-year engagement, per the agency.”

The report cites Max Cremonini, content and creative lead for Accenture Interactive, Italy, saying the Vatican’s Ministry of Communications selected the agency based on its “solid global experience” and “unique ability to combine creative/marketing agency services with consulting skills and deep technology chops.”

MediaPost adds: “Under the multi-phase project, Accenture Interactive will consolidate various digital news properties into one unified portal as well as design new logos and other brand elements of the various Vatican communication channels: Vatican News, Vatican Media and Radio Vaticana Italiana.”

  1. I thought my weekly contributions to the church were going to help the poor. Not the mega rich ad agencies.
