A new series is being hailed as the No. 1 new drama on cable this season following the launch last Monday of TNT’s “The Alienist.” The cable net sent out word that the premiere has reached more than 13 million viewers to date, ranking as TNT’s strongest series debut since 2012.

The show also set a record with its digital launch.

“TNT’s ‘The Alienist’ scored an impressive launch last Monday night to become cable’s #1 new drama series this season in Live +3 delivery,” the network said in today’s annoncement. “This gripping, turn-of-the-century murder mystery has so far reached a cumulative 13.1 million total viewers in telecasts airing last week, nearly half of whom were new to the network. The premiere TNT telecast alone averaged 3.1M total viewers and nearly 1M viewers 18-49 in Live +3, and the network’s Live +35 multiplatform projection is 16 million, making it TNT’s most successful launch event since 2012.”

The premiere generated more than 4 million total minutes watched on TNT’s apps and sites, the most digital views among all TNT series, and sparked more than 10 million social engagements to become 2018’s most buzzed about new drama.

“The Alienist” is a co-production of Paramount Television and Turner’s Studio T.
