Oprah Winfrey, who delivered a moving speech at Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards as she received the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award, is being buzzed about as a potential candidate for president.

The AP reports that celebrities and others on social media were commenting on the possibility of a Winfrey presidential bid following her speech.

“Comedian Sarah Silverman tweeted ‘Oprah/Michelle 2020,'” the AP reports. “Leslie Odom Jr., who played Aaron Burr in the Broadway musical ‘Hamilton’ tweeted ‘She’s running. A new day is on the way.’”

Winfrey’s longtime partner, Stedman Graham, told the Los Angeles Times: “It’s up to the people. She would absolutely do it.”

Here’s Winfrey’s acceptance speech from Sunday’s ceremony, posted by NBC …

  1. Not that I’m exactly on the “Oprah for President” bandwagon, but I can’t wait for all of the racist/hypocritical Trump fans to yell about how Oprah is just a self-important celebrity with no political experience. Surely they will see how silly they will look saying that…or perhaps my expectations of the levels of common sense and reasoning among Trump voters are set way too high?

  2. Oprah is a very accomplished business woman. She knows how to stand on stage and manage a large crowd. Her fan base is strong and loyal. And she knows how to use TV to get her message across. She has the same qualifications as Trump when he declared.

  3. Nick G., seems I remember the Liberals having hissy fits because Trump had no political experience. So suddenly, because it’s Oprah, that inexperience is a plus? Perhaps my expectations of the levels of common sense and reasoning among Oprah supporters are set way too high?
