Report: Matt Lauer Was in Denial Until the Bitter End

Knowing he was under pressure at NBC late last year, “Today” show fixture Matt Lauer “fought to the bitter end,” lying about past liaisons and telling top brass at the network that he had nothing to be ashamed of, The New York Post’s Page Six reports, citing inside sources.

At the same time, Lauer apparently knew what was coming by the time he covered the Macy’s Thankgiving Day Parade on Nov. 23. “Dressed in monochromatic black, a ‘gray and tired-looking’ Matt Lauer was overheard telling a co-worker, ‘This is going to be my last parade,'” the paper reports.

“The noose was tightening around the neck of the ‘Today’ show host,” the report adds. “Just six days later, America’s ‘favorite dad’ was unceremoniously ditched by NBC following a ‘detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.’”

A source close to Lauer says the former morning TV mainstay continues to struggle with his downfall. “He goes between sadness and acceptance of his fate, to disbelief how it all happened so quickly and how the situation was so out of his control,” the source is quoted saying.

  1. Thinking they are “in control” is the downfall (and will always be so) of every person who thinks they are in control.

  2. He was in control all of the time. He just used his control to harass women, rather than using it for his career and family and reputation .

  3. What a douchebag man

  4. Lauer should just hang himself. He is a total and complete POS loser.
