ABC News is covering the return of the former No. 1 show, “Roseanne,” with a special edition of “20/20” set for Thursday, Feb. 15.
“Roseanne: The Return” will feature returning actors Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, Michael Fishman and Sarah Chalke talking about the show’s legacy and what life was like when they were a part of the biggest show on television.
ABC is bringing back the sitcom this spring, with the revival set to premiere Tuesday, March 27.
“The special interviews ‘Roseanne’ executive producers Whitney Cummings and Bruce Helford; actress Patricia Heaton, star of ‘The Middle,’ known as the modern day ‘Roseanne’; and ‘The Middle’ creators and executive producers Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Heline, who began their careers as writers for ‘Roseanne,'” ABC says in its announcement for the special. “The hour also highlights the guest stars who were on the show before they became famous including George Clooney, Ellen DeGeneres and Leonardo DiCaprio.”
The original “Roseanne” premiered in 1988 and ran for nine seasons. “The revolutionary No. 1-ranked show revolved around the working-class Conner family and made history by constantly combatting the classic family sitcom stereotype by addressing troubling, controversial issues that didn’t always have a neat solution at the end of the episode,” ABC noted.
