Christopher Lloyd, a familiar face to TV audiences after playing Jim Ignatowski from 1978-1983 on the hit ABC sitcom “Taxi,” is headed to NBC for a new comedy project.

Variety reports that Lloyd, who’s also well-known for playing Emmett “Doc” Brown in the “Back to the Future” feature film trilogy, was cast in NBC’s single-camera comedy pilot “Guess Who Died.”

“He joins previously announced cast members Hector Elizondo and Holland Taylor, playing the role of Mort,” Variety reports. “Crusty and grumpy, puttering along slowly in his golf cart at Las Esperanzado Senior Community, Mort is described as a man of mystery and wealth.”

The project comes from Norman Lear and Peter Tolan, who will serve as executive producers and writers, with Brent Miller also executive producing. Lear’s Act III Productions and Tolan’s Cloudland Company are producing along with Sony Pictures Television.
