The two lead parts have been cast for CBS’s reboot of its classic female-centric detective series “Cagney & Lacey.” Variety reports that Sarah Drew and Michelle Hurd have boarded the pilot.

“Hurd will play Lacey, an LAPD detective,” Variety reports. “Athletic, polished, former high-school track and field champion. She is described as empathetic and straightforward, and is Cagney’s more experienced partner. Drew will play LAPD detective Cagney, described as Lacey’s nimble and easygoing partner and protégée.”

The report notes that Drew recently departed ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Bridget Carpenter will write and executive produce the “Cagney & Lacey” pilot, with CBS Television Studios producing along with MGM Television.

  1. CBS should have some fun and see if they can get Loretta Swit, Meg Foster, and Sharon Gless to all do cameo appearance in the Pilot. They all played Christine Cagney during the run of the show.

  2. No!! Quit trying to remake these shows!!!????????????
