A comedy series will be returning for a fifth season after the news came down today that Pop has renewed “Schitt’s Creek.”

Pop, a joint venture of CBS Corp. and Lionsgate, is also increasing the show’s season order to 14, up from 13 for season four.

The show, which is created by and stars Eugene Levy and Daniel Levy, will return in winter 2019. The current season is airing Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Pop, with the season finale scheduled for April 11.

“It is rare to find a television series that continues to deliver fanfare, critical acclaim and audience growth season after season,” said Brad Schwartz, President of Pop. “This gem of a show and its amazing ensemble cast, including the brilliant Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara, bring Emmy-worthy performances to the screen that are both comedic and heart-warming. We couldn’t be more proud of how the show continues to find new viewers and creatively flourish into one of the finest series on television.”

Season four has been delivering solid double-digit viewership increases over season three, the network noted, citing Nielsen L+7 data.

“‘Schitt’s Creek’ is a half-hour, single-camera comedy starring Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Daniel Levy, Annie Murphy, Chris Elliott, Emily Hampshire and Jennifer Robertson. The series follows a wealthy family who suddenly find themselves broke and forced to live in Schitt’s Creek, a small town they once bought as a joke,” the announcement notes.

Commissioned by CBC, the series is produced by Not A Real Company Productions Inc. and created by Eugene Levy and Daniel Levy. The executive producers are Eugene Levy, Daniel Levy, Andrew Barnsley, Fred Levy, David West Read and Ben Feigin.
