Just ahead of the finale to its current season, a drama series picked up a renewal Tuesday. Cinemax announced the pickup of “Strike Back” for a sixth season.
The action series is currently airing its fifth season on Friday nights, with the season finale scheduled for April 6.
Kary Antholis, president of HBO Miniseries and Cinemax Programming, made the announcement.
“The rebirth of ‘Strike Back’ has reestablished Cinemax as a destination for adrenalized, entertaining action series,” Antholis said. “We are delighted to offer Section 20 the opportunity to continue saving the world from mayhem and destruction.”
The show follows the activities of Section 20, an elite, multinational, covert special ops team, as it spans the globe fighting a vast web of interconnected criminal and terrorist activity.
TVGuide.com said of the show’s current season that it is a “visually stunning” show that “regularly delivers action sequences on par with many feature films.”
The cast for the current season includes Warren Brown, Daniel MacPherson, Roxanne McKee, Alin Sumarwata, Nina Sosanya, Don Hany, Trevor Eve and Katherine Kelly.
