Mar 30, 2018  •  Post A Comment

Fox News host Laura Ingraham was doing damage control after advertisers began pulling out of her show over her comments to a Parkland, Fla., school shooting survivor.

“Ingraham on Wednesday posted a mocking tweet of high school senior David Hogg, taunting him for not getting into some colleges he had applied to,” CBS News reports. “In response, Hogg tweeted a list of advertisers on Ingraham’s show and called on followers to contact them.”

Here’s Ingraham’s original tweet …

Hogg responded with a tweet of his own, calling on supporters to put pressure on Ingraham’s advertisers. Here’s Hogg’s tweet along with a response from Hulu …

At the time of the CBS News report, eleven companies had withdrawn their ads from Ingraham’s show. The report lists the Atlantis, Paradise Island resort; Office Depot, Jenny Craig, Hulu, Nutrish, TripAdvisor, Expedia, Wayfair, StitchFix, Nestlé and Johnson & Johnson as companies that said they would pull ads from the show.

Ingraham returned to Twitter on Thursday to issue an apology to Hogg, which you can see below …

Meanwhile, fans of Ingraham’s show began organizing boycotts against the companies that dropped out as advertisers.

For his part, Hogg appeared on CNN and refused to accept Ingraham’s apology, noting that the gesture was just a reaction to losing her advertisers. Here’s that video …

  1. Please get the smarmy, self-important, attention-seeking David Hogg off of my screens and out of my life. Enough of him, already!

    • You misspelled “Laura Ingraham” in your comment. Trying to kiss up to David and pretending she didn’t sneer at him because she can’t face the consequences of what she said — that seems like the definition of “smarmy.”

    • Wouldn’t be seeing him today, most likely, if some old-ass woman didn’t decide to attack a kid. Then again, why care about kids getting attacked today either, huh?

    • Haha. Jealous of a High School kid? It’s sad as hell that your sick of seeing a kid for a few weeks but not sick of school shootings. Or maybe you are but it’s more important to hate him. Really shows where people have gone. Go find a mirror and look into it for a long time Michael. You’ve become a jerk.

  2. The shakedown furthers afoot.

  3. Thousands more ‘Kids” (and adults) die each year of drug abuse than are killed in school shootings. I feel very sorry for those students that died, but I’d love to see marches and outrage against the drug problem that we have in this country. In any year, how many students are killed by guns? According to the Washington Post on Feb 14, 2018, there have been 7 school shootings in 2017/2018 with 17 dead and an undetermined number wounded. According to the CDC, there were OVER 64,000 people that died of drug overdose in 2016 (the last year for which I could find statistics). It’s terrible that 17 students lost their lives but frankly, 17 deaths pale in comparison to 64,000 deaths a year. And many thousands of those were in the 15 to 19 age group. That is the national tragedy. Not 7 school shootings with 17 deaths. 64,000 people are more people than were killed in Vietnam. That is where we need to concentrate our resources. Losing 17 people is bad but what if we could save 64,000 people? To me that’s a much better use of our resources.

  4. Based on numbers alone, that is clearly true. Add this in……a teacher recently posted that the fire alarm at her school went off. Her students begged her not to make them leave the classroom because they were afraid of being shot. Not one other classroom in her hallway immediately reacted. ALL of them stayed in their rooms trying to persuade terrified students that they had to leave. She placed herself at the front and had the students hold hands to walk out. She herself was privately praying that it wasn’t a shooter. It was a false alarm. THIS is the problem though, not that only 17 students have died. It’s that thousands and thousands and thousands of them are afraid to respond to a fire alarm because they think they might be shot.

  5. One of the great tragedies of the failure of the authorities. Had the Sheriff’s department done it’s job. the Florida shooter would not have been able to legally purchase a gun. Unfortunately I know from personal experience that this is not an isolated instance. My husband reported a person making straw purchases for a convicted felon. This person had threatened to kill law enforcement officers. Nothing was done. Perhaps if more was done to enforce the laws on the books and act upon tips, violence & deaths like this could be avoided.could be avoided.
