Police in Los Angeles arrested a man Sunday night who is accused of stealing actress Frances McDormand’s Oscar trophy. Earlier in the evening, McDormand won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”
The AP cites a police spokeswoman saying Terry Bryant, 47, was arrested on suspicion of felony grand theft.
McDormand’s publicist, Simon Halls, told the AP: “After some brief time apart, Frances and her Oscar were happily reunited. They celebrated the reunion with a double cheeseburger from In-N-Out Burger.”
Authorities said the statuette was stolen during the Governor’s Ball after the ceremony. Bryant, who reportedly had a ticket for the event, was being held on $20,000 bail this morning, according to police.
“A video that posted live on a Facebook page that appeared to belong to Bryant showed him kissing and flaunting a statuette during the Governor’s Ball,” the AP reports. “‘Look it, baby. My team got this tonight. This is mine,’ he said, turning the trophy toward the camera, before kissing it on the head.”
