The next installment of “Dancing with the Stars” will feature a lineup made up entirely of athletes, and ABC announced today that the new cast will be revealed live on “Good Morning America” on Friday, April 13.
“Dancing with the Stars: Athletes” will premiere Monday, April 30, with Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews as hosts.
“The show kicks off with each of the 10 athletes being paired up with a pro dancer, then follows their preparation and hard work as they hit the dance floor for the most competitive season ever,” ABC said in today’s announcement. “Each week these athletes will leave their comfort zones and endure hours of grueling rehearsals to master new dance styles and technical choreography to perform a dance.”
Ballroom experts Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli return to the ballroom to judge the competitive dances, along with viewer votes.
“Dancing with the Stars: Athletes” is produced by BBC Worldwide Productions. Andrew Llinares and Ashley Edens are executive producers. The show is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC’s selected HDTV format, with 5.1 channel surround sound. The program carries a TV-PG, L parental guideline.
