The new Netflix series “Evil Genius,” which rolls out May 11, delves into the so-called “pizza bomber heist,” which took place in Erie, Pa., in 2003.
The four-part original documentary series from executive producers Mark & Jay Duplass examines what Netflix describes as “a robbery gone wrong and a terrifying public murder,” featuring “a bizarre collection of Midwestern hoarders, outcasts, and lawbreakers” who play cat-and-mouse with the FBI.
“Eventually, a middle-aged mastermind named Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong — once a town beauty, now a woman grappling with mental illness — is arrested,” Netflix notes. “But 15 years later, ‘Evil Genius’ proves there’s more to the conspiracy and murders than was ever thought.”
