Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron will play TV news personality Megyn Kelly in a picture about Roger Ailes, the architect of Fox News who was later forced to resign from Fox News amid allegations of sexual misconduct, reports The Hollywood Reporter in a scoop.
The THR piece, by Borys Kit and Mia Galuppo, says the film will be written by another Academy Award-winner, “Charles Randolph, who won an Oscar for co-writing ‘The Big Short.’ Annapurna is financing and producing the feature.”
Annapurna Pictures is the company founded by Megan Ellison, the daughter of Silicon Valley billionaire Larry Ellison. Megan Ellison has produced such acclaimed pictures as “Zero Dark Thirty,” which was nominated for five Oscars, including Best Picture, and last year’s “Phantom Thread,” which was nominated for six Academy Awards, also including Best Picture.
Set to direct the yet-to-be-titled picture about Ailes will be Jay Roach. “Roach has gained acclaim for taking on real-life political events in his movies, such as the 2000 presidential election and the Sarah Palin-centric feature ‘Game Change,’” THR reports, adding, ‘He is attached to direct the TV adaptation of Michael Wolff’s explosive Trump book ‘Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House.’”
Theron won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in the 2003 movie “Monster.”
