David Goodall, 104 Years Old, Died Today — Why He Had to Travel from Australia to Switzerland to End His Life

May 10, 2018  •  Post A Comment

David Goodall died today at about 12.30 p.m. local time in Basel, Switzerland, at age 104, reports The New York Times.

In the last 24 hours Goodall had received a lot of publicity. He had traveled to Switzerland from his home in Perth, in Western Australia, because he wanted to die by assisted suicide, which is not allowed in Australia, but is in Switzerland.

“A botanist and ecologist of some renown, he was not terminally ill, but his health had deteriorated so badly that he had to stop most of his activities — like working at Edith Cowan University in Perth and performing in the theater — and he did not want to continue living,” The Times reports.

The story adds, “Mr. Goodall said, ‘I’ve had a good life.’ He was not afraid of death but acknowledged that he previously tried to end his life in Australia. ‘It would’ve been much more convenient for everyone if I had been able to,’ he said, ‘but unfortunately it failed.’

  1. What does this have to do with TV, TV Week?

Is this supposed to be a demonstration of the ever-so-fashionable but typically empty-headed virtue-signaling about the unfairness of the world.

    Boo hoo hoo.

Because it sure doesn’t appear to have ANYTHING to do with TV. News about TV is why I come to your site. News about TV is why I subscribe to your daily eMails. So, why are shoveling this social justice warrior dreck in my direction.

Stay in your lane, you self-deluded hacks.
