Fox Pulls the Plug on Three Prime-Time Shows

Fox got serious today about clearing space in its prime-time lineup, canceling three of its comedies. The network pulled the plug on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Last Man on Earth” and “The Mick,” according to media reports.

The Andy Samberg-led “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” is approaching the end of its fifth season, which will now be its last, TheWrap reports, noting that the moves come as Fox is adding another night of football to its prime-time lineup for the 2018-2019 season.

Will Forte’s “Last Man on Earth” has already wrapped its fourth season and will not be back, EW.com reports. The show about survivors of a global virus has been losing viewers since season one, averaging less than 3 million total viewers and a 1.2 rating in the key 18-49 demo during its most recent season, the report notes.

TVLine reports that Fox canceled “The Mick,” which wrapped up its second season April 3. The report notes that the cancellation comes at a bad time for the show’s plot development, as the finale “ended with Sofia Black-D’elia’s character in critical condition after being struck by lightning — a surprisingly dark twist, even for this show.”

  1. No! Brooklyn 99 is soooooo funny!

  2. Those jerks! The Mick was the funniest show on tv! Yes, it is super ridiculous, but that’s what made it hilarious. Brooklyn 99 was a favorite of mine too. Maybe they can find life after network somewhere else where their genius will be recognized. Every character was well written and played. One less Fox viewer here

  3. So sad to hear The Mick was cancelled. One of my favorite shows. Great writing and acting. You will be missed. Hopefully Netflix or Amazon Prime will take a look at picking it up.

  4. Brooklyn 99 was the only show I watched on Fox and one of the only non-sports program I was still watching on Broadcast. Very sad to lose a legitimate comedy that was truly funny.
