Huh? Congresswoman Blames School Shootings on Porn

One Washington, D.C., lawmaker is getting a lot of attention after offering her thoughts on the causes of school shootings. The Huffington Post reports that Diane Black, R-Tenn., suggested that the ready availability of pornography is a “big part” of what’s causing a rise in shootings.

Black, who is running for governor of Tennessee, also cited violent movies, mental illness and the “deterioration of the family” as among the causes. She reportedly made the comments during a meeting last week with local pastors.

Commenting on pornography she said: “It’s available on the shelf when you walk in the grocery store. Yeah, you have to reach up to get it, but there’s pornography there. All of this is available without parental guidance. I think that is a big part of the root cause.”

The report notes: “There have been 23 shootings of some type this year on the campuses of K-12 schools or colleges. Of those at the K-12 schools, nine involved a gun being discharged and people being injured or killed, including a Friday shooting in [an] Indiana school that left a teacher and a student injured.”

The publication obtained audio of Black’s comments, which can be heard at the link above to The Huffington Post.

  1. How out of touch is she? She must shop at a 1970’s Swedish themed grocery store. Wait till she discovers the internets porn being created by all the ISIS illegals in Tennessee.
