The frenzy of major programming moves that gripped the broadcast networks late last week extended into the weekend, with CBS announcing key moves.

Among them, the network canceled the veteran drama series “Scorpion” and the sophomore comedy “Superior Donuts.”

CBS also renewed a batch of shows, announcing pickups for new seasons of the drama series “Elementary” and “Criminal Minds” and the comedies “Life in Pieces” and “Man With a Plan.”

The network also renewed the midseason series “Instinct.”
