TV Show Examines Cults, Starting With a ‘Ripped From the Headlines’ Story

An investigative series premiering this month examines cults, and the premiere focuses on the group NXIVM. The group has been in the headlines lately with allegations of sex trafficking.

“Smallville” actress Allison Mack is among those facing charges for alleged involvement in the group.

The series, A&E’s “Cults and Extreme Belief,” premieres May 28. Elizabeth Vargas hosts the program, produced under the A&E Investigates banner.

Among the other organizations that will be examined during the first season are Twelve Tribes, Sanctuary Church, United Nation of Islam, Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Jehovah’s Witness and The Family.
