White House Slams TV Show, Calls It ‘Not Fit for Broadcast,’ After Comment Sparks Backlash

The White House is up in arms about a TV series today, with Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders responding in an angry statement to a comment aired Wednesday night on the TBS show “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.”

“The language used by Samantha Bee last night is vile and vicious. The collective silence by the left and its media allies is appalling,” the statement says, adding: “Her disgusting comments and show are not fit for broadcast, and executives at Time Warner and TBS must demonstrate that such explicit profanity about female members of this administration will not be condoned on its network.”

The statement follows a comment by Bee that has been getting plenty of blowback after it surfaced in a segment focusing on Donald Trump’s immigration policy. Bee called White House staffer and first daughter Ivanka Trump a “feckless c–t” during the segment.

Deadline notes that Bee’s comment has been widely criticized, quoting John King of CNN saying: “Let me just say, one parent to another — parent of a daughter — no, no, no!”

King added: “Criticize the president’s daughter, criticize the policy. Some things just aren’t funny.” He also noted that both CNN and TBS are owned by Time Warner, saying: “This is a family issue, if you will.”

During the controversial segment of her show, Bee reportedly reacted to a photo of Ivanka Trump with her infant son that was tweeted over the weekend.

Bee is quoted saying: “You know, Ivanka, that’s a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me just say, one mother to another, ‘Do something about your dad’s immigration practices, you feckless c–t!’”

Both Bee and TBS have apologized for the remark. The New York Times quotes a statement from Bee in which she says: “I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night. It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it.”

The Times report adds: “In a statement, TBS said Ms. Bee had taken the right action by apologizing for the ‘vile and inappropriate language’ she had used. ‘Those words should not have been aired,’ the network said. ‘It was our mistake, too, and we regret it.’”

  1. How pathetic of Liar Huckabee and her boss, the Orange Blobblehead.
Bee is a comedian and actually apologized for what some people say was going too far.
Meanwhile, Orange Blobblehead is supposed to be Commander in Chief but is an unapologetic racist who has slandered, lied and bullied his way via Twitter and his Klan “rallies” but has yet to apologize for anything. Karma is going to be a bitch for those two!

  2. two faced politicized idiots. Get your story straight.

  3. Damn. Sorry she apologized ..the Orange terd has called people worse…Sam I love you!! Keep on doing what you’re doing!

  4. No need to apologize. The Orange terd has said worse…

  5. Oh but the pres can say whatever…no.

  6. Yes, this President sure is a racist. Under his leadership:
Black and Hispanic unemployment has never been lower. Let that sink in for a minute: NEVER BEEN LOWER.
The economy is chugging along at a pace that during the Obama years could only have been a fantasy.
We are no longer a party to sham agreements like the Paris Climate Accord or the Iran Nuclear Deal.
Conservative judges are being appointed at an incredible rate.
He has pardoned, among others boxer Jack Johnson and Dinesh DeSouza.
And as a final note: If it’s O.K. for Sam Bee to say what she did because she’s a “comedian” (and she apologized why wasn’t the same standard applied to Rosanne Barr? I don’t defend Barr’s tweets here, I simply point out the obvious double standard.

  7. Any one who bullies & belittles a woman by using such vile language should be censored. Am I the only one bothered that this was because Ivanka Trump posted a beautiful picture of herself with her child? I know of no word that is a worst thing you can call a woman. That other women are defending this word disgusts me. If someone had said this about Obama’s girls, would they be defending it? I am so angry that such vulgarity and cruelty is acceptable, that I have no words to properly express myself. “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” had to sit in a room and write this statement. Others had to agree with it. To me it makes it much worst because it was pre-meditated. People complain about how coarse and vulgar our nation has become, yet defend this vulgarity. Disgusting.
