A well-known TV personality who got the boot from his daily gig as one of the hosts of the Hallmark Channel lifestyle show “Home & Family” was “blindsided” by the news that he was off the show, according to a report by Deadline.
A rep for Mark Steines, who is familiar to many TV viewers through his long run on “Entertainment Tonight,” says the TV veteran didn’t know when he went to work on Wednesday that it would be his last day.
As we reported earlier today, Steines was abruptly sent packing, with Hallmark making it official when it released a terse statement.
Deadline notes that Hallmark Channel elaborated a bit today, issuing a new statement in which the channel says: “Shows evolve and change all the time. Mark has been an instrumental part of ‘Home & Family’ for the past 6 years, and we are extremely grateful for his incredible work and leadership. We truly wish Mark all the best in his future endeavors.”
Deadline quotes Steines’ rep saying: “The network’s given explanation for making the change was ‘creative reasons’; there were no other reasons given.” The rep added: “We had had nothing but positive reviews and feedback from Hallmark for the entirety of the time he has been on the show, including this year.”
Steines had been with the show since it launched in October 2012.
