Marcy Carsey, Who Produced Both ‘Roseanne’ and ‘The Cosby Show,’ Offers Thoughts on Two Scandals

Legendary TV producer Marcy Carsey, who happened to be behind the cameras on two high-profile sitcoms that have since been touched by scandal, offered her thoughts on the two scandals.

Carsey, who left the business in 2005, was a producer on both “Roseanne” and “The Cosby Show.” She was asked about both shows when she was honored with the ATX Award in Television Excellence in Austin.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that Carsey said ABC did the right thing in canceling its “Roseanne” reboot, but said she probably would not try to get it going again without Roseanne Barr.

“I would have a very difficult time. I think I would not,” Carsey said of the possibility of a reboot of the reboot. “I think I would just say, ‘OK, we had a wonderful run.’ I love the show we did all those years ago and I would just move on.”

Commenting on “The Cosby Show,” Carsey said: “It was a life-changer for so many people who have talked to us since, saying things like, ‘I grew up with that show and it really did change my life.’ That stands — the impact was what it was.”
