Variety Picks the Best TV Shows of 2018

Jun 4, 2018  •  Post A Comment

A report published today by Variety names 14 TV programs the publication says are the best shows of the year to date. Noting that perennial critical favorites such as “Better Call Saul,” “Game of Thrones” and “Veep” are ineligible because they have not televised new episodes in 2018, the list includes 13 TV series and one TV movie.

As for the criteria used to make the list, the story says that the list, “a mix of new and returning broadcasts, is an attempt to name some of what stood out most sharply to Variety’s critics….”

In the story, the list of best shows of 2018 so far is in alphabetical order. Here they are:

  • “American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace” (FX)
  • “The Americans” (FX)
  • “Atlanta” (FX)
  • “Barry” (HBO)
  • “High Maintenance” (HBO)
  • “Jane the Virgin” (CW)
