’24’ Prequel in the Works

Another “24” TV series is in the works, with Variety reporting that showrunner Howard Gordon and original series co-creators Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran are working on a prequel series for Fox. The series would track a young Jack Bauer.

“The project is in the early phases of development with no word yet on when, if ever, it will make it to air,” Variety notes. “Should the project move forward, it would mark the third time Fox has looked to relaunch the franchise. The original ’24,’ which starred Kiefer Sutherland as Bauer, ran for eight seasons on Fox from 2002-2010. Fox then brought the show back with the limited series ’24: Live Another Day’ in 2014. Most recently, Corey Hawkins starred in ’24: Legacy,’ playing an entirely new character named Eric Carter.”

  1. Remake, reboot, reimagining…it’s simple. Just get Kiefer back, guys.

  2. Agree. But in fairness to Kiefer, he is older now and maybe doesn’t want to take the physical beating of doing an action series like 24. No question though, Kiefer can never really be “replaced” in that role of Jack Bauer. Kiefer was absolutely masterful.

  3. Just give it a rest. There’s only one Jack Bauer and that’s Kiiefer Sutherland. Just like ther’es only one Thomas Magnum. And that’s Tom Selleck.

  4. I just checked out his picture in Wikipedia. He’s 51, and might pass for 41; just sayin’.
