Meredith Vieira, who spent 11 years at CBS including stints as a reporter and anchor for “60 Minutes” and “CBS This Morning,” was asked for her reaction to Ronan Farrow’s New Yorker piece on CBS and Leslie Moonves during an appearance Monday at the Television Critics Association press tour.
USA Today reports that Vieira, who was at the event to promote the new PBS series “The Great American Read,” had not read the New Yorker report, but opened up about her own time at CBS.
“I have not read the piece,” Vieira is quoted saying. “I’ve been out here shooting a pilot. I know it’s about Les Moonves, but I don’t know if it’s sexual harassment, I just don’t know.”
Vieira added: “People know my story from CBS. I think there was sexism for sure. I never was harassed per se, but I think it was difficult at the time on that show to navigate your way as a woman. I’ve never experienced harassment as a woman anywhere that I’ve been. Maybe they’re scared of me.”
