Susan Lucci Signs Development Deal, Will Star in and Produce Movie

Emmy-winning actress Susan Lucci, best-known for her run of more than four decades in the role of Erica Kane on the ABC daytime drama “all My Children,” has inked a development deal with Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

Lucci will executive produce and star in a mystery movie for the channel based on the novel “Charley’s Web” by Joy Fielding.

“The mystery movie will focus on a columnist who uncovers the truth behind the crimes in the community,” Hallmark said in announcing the deal. The announcement today was part of Crown Media Family Networks’ presentation at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour.

“We are honored to begin a mystery movie partnership with television icon Susan Lucci,” said Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President, Programming and Network Publicity, Crown Media Family Networks. “We are excited to bring her creative storytelling, enthusiasm and passion for television to our viewers and bring her perspective to the mystery genre.”

The channel adds in a press release: “As one of the most famous faces in daytime television history, Susan Lucci has held audiences spellbound for years. In 1999, Lucci won an Emmy Award for Best Actress and was the recipient of a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2005. Lucci has been seen in a variety of shows including ‘All My Children,’ ‘Devious Maids,’ ‘Hot in Cleveland,’ ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ ‘Army Wives’ and ‘Saturday Night Live.’ In 2011, Lucci released her New York Times bestselling autobiography ‘All My Life.’ In addition to television, Lucci has performed on Broadway and has become a successful entrepreneur launching a variety of beauty products. Lastly, Lucci has a tireless commitment to humanitarian efforts.”
