Why Hulu Wouldn’t Run a Planned Parenthood Ad

Hulu has rejected an ad that Planned Parenthood wanted to run on the streaming service, with Variety reporting that Hulu determined the ad’s content does not meet its standards for political ads.

The organization wanted to run the ad on Hulu’s drama series “The Handmaid’s Tale,” which Variety notes “depicts a world in which fertile women are forced to become child-bearing servants.” The report says Hulu wanted “to make a point about the pending Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh and the effect it could have on a woman’s right to choose an abortion.”

Variety notes that executives at Planned Parenthood, which has run ads on Hulu as recently as June, were surprised by the rejection of the spot.

Dana Singiser, Planned Parenthood’s vice president of public policy and government affairs, said in a statement: “Hulu’s decision shouldn’t stop Americans from learning about what’s at stake for women and our bodies with Kavanaugh’s nomination, and from calling their senators to oppose his nomination.”

  1. The time to de-fund Planned Parenthood is now and forever. Tax-dollars should not be used to fund the immoral practice of killing unborn babies. To support the right to life, please go to: https://www.tfpstudentaction.org/petitions/defund-planned-parenthood-forever

How can you expect to see respect in American society when helpless unborn babies’ lives are being snuffed out in the name of “choice”?

    Really?

  2. Shaking my head at people’s ignorance. PP does not use tax payer money to fund abortions. Never did. Google it and stop watching the Fake News Channel.

  3. Mike, keep shaking your head. Maybe some common sense will wiggle in there. John is correct. PP gets millions from the Federal Government. That money comes from John, you and I. John and I are saying “NOT ANYMORE.”

  4. Mike, just as a follow up. I googled it. Planned Parenthood DOES use taxpayer money to fund abortions. That was specifically stated in the google search. PP gets $500 million a year from the Federal Government. Any money the Federal Government gives to PP comes from you, John, myself and a lot of hard working people.

  5. The only abortions that receive any federal funds are in cases of rape, incest, or “medically necessary” ones (such as to protect the life of the patient.) The vast majority of the government funding goes to the other health services that PP provides. If you consider saving the life of the patient to be an “immoral practice”, then that’s on you.
