For six seasons – ending in 2010 – a series called “insanely watchable” by the L.A. Weekly kept viewers enthralled on MTV. It was “The Hills,” and MTV has announced the return of the show by showing a clip Monday night during the VMA’s.

According to an MTV press release, also released Monday night, “‘The Hills: New Beginnings’ will reunite original cast members, alongside their children and friends, and follow their personal and professional lives while living in Los Angeles. With new faces in the picture and returning favorites, ‘The Hills’ is back for a new beginning.”

The show is expected to air on MTV in 2019.

Writes Deadline, “Members of the original series – Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Audrina Partidge, Jason Wahler, Stephanie Pratt, Justin Bobby and Frankie Delgado – were in attendance at the VMAs. But where were Whitney Port, Lauren Conrad, and Kristin Cavallari?”

Deadline adds “‘Laguna Beach,’ which aired three seasons from 2004-2006, followed the trials and tribulations (OK, more tribulation than trial) of Laguna Hills High School students including Conrad, Cavallari, Montag, Patridge, Port, Lo Bosworth, the Pratts and Brody Jenner. All became household names and spawned several spinoffs including‘The Hills,’ which focused initially on Conrad starting her career in fashion up the freeway in Los Angeles, with the crew eventually following her.

“Conrad hosted a ‘The Hills’ reunion special in 2016 but it’s unclear whether she will be part of the revival. Cavallari among other cast members including the now-married Montag and Pratt have said they’d be in for a new incarnation of the series.”

Here’s the new “Hills” clip that debuted during the VMA broadcast Monday night:
