The music streaming service Spotify has pulled the plug on podcast episodes from controversial media personality Alex Jones for what the service calls a violation of its hate content policy, the AP reports.

The service reportedly pulled some episodes of “The Alex Jones Show” after receiving backlash on social media.

“We take reports of hate content seriously and review any podcast episode or song that is flagged by our community,” Spotify said in a statement, adding: “Spotify can confirm it has removed specific episodes of ‘The Alex Jones Show’ podcast for violating our hate content policy.”

Jones is a well-known radio host and conspiracy theorist based in Austin, Texas.

“Jones says his shows, which are broadcast on radio, YouTube and other platforms, reach at least 70 million people a week,” the AP reports.

Jones reportedly responded to the action by saying it was “what I expect.” He’s quoted saying: “I was born in censorship. I was born being suppressed.”
