CBS Accentuates the Positive in Julie Chen’s ‘Talk’ Exit

CBS released a statement in response to Julie Chen’s announcement that she is stepping down from her longtime role as a co-host of the network’s daytime show “The Talk.” Chen’s announcement today came on the heels of the abrupt departure of her husband, Leslie Moonves, from his position as CBS Corp. chairman and CEO amid allegations of sexual impropriety.

The CBS statement accentuates the positive:

“For eight seasons, Julie Chen has co-hosted ‘The Talk’ with incredible energy, grace and professionalism. Her talents played a big role in our successful launch of CBS’ first network daytime talk show, and in the series growth into an Emmy Award-winning broadcast.

“All of us here have tremendous appreciation for the dedication and passion she brought to the show every day and for her generous role as an ambassador for CBS Daytime. We are grateful for her many other contributions, respect her decision and wish Julie all the best in everything she does.”

Chen’s other CBS job, as host of “Big Brother,” appears to be largely unaffected by the situation surrounding her husband. Chen was back on “Big Brother” last week, and used the set of “Big Brother” to tape her announcement about “The Talk.”

She also signed off last week at the end of “Big Brother” as “Julie Chen Moonves,” in an apparent show of support for her husband. She has not previously included the “Moonves” part in her signoffs.

  1. Glad shes leaving The Talk. Not a fan. ESP after this drama and the fact she’s staying with her slime ball hubby. She just sees $$ signs man. Good riddance.
