A performer who had been scheduled to appear on this weekend’s season 44 premiere of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” dropped out at the last minute for what executive producer Lorne Michaels said are “emotional reasons.”

CBS News reports that Ariana Grande dropped out on short notice. Michaels talked about it Thursday on the “Origins” podcast.

The report notes that Grande, who is engaged to “Saturday Night Live” star Pete Davidson, “has hinted to having a rough go at it on Twitter.” Grande sent out a tweet Thursday saying: “can i pls have one okay day. just one. pls.”

“Grande’s ex-boyfriend, rapper Mac Miller, was found dead on Sept. 7,” CBS News notes. “Later, Grande said she was sorry she couldn’t save the ‘sweetest soul’ who for so long was her ‘dearest friend.'”

Kanye West was brought in as the musical guest for the premiere, as we reported previously. Adam Driver will host the program.

“SNL” also released the guest list this week for the Oct. 6 (guest host Awkwafina with musical guest Travis Scott) and Oct. 13 shows (Seth Meyers as guest host with musical guest Paul Simon).
