A TV weatherman who appeared to be having a hard time standing up during a live report on Hurricane Florence is being accused of faking his battle with gale-force winds.

In the video, which you can watch below, The Weather Channel’s Mike Seidel is seen bracing himself in an effort to stay upright while reporting from Wilmington, N.C. Meanwhile, two pedestrians can be seen out for a stroll in the background, walking calmly as though nothing’s wrong.

The video has since taken off on social media, with many observers criticizing Seidel’s report.

A spokesman for The Weather Channel is quoted saying: “It’s important to note that the two individuals in the background are walking on concrete, and Mike Seidel is trying to maintain his footing on wet grass, after reporting on-air until 1 a.m. this morning and is undoubtedly exhausted.”

Here’s the clip …

  1. OH! The horror, the breeze!!! What a dangerous job this Siedel has!

  2. I frankly thought the same thing while watching this phony

  3. He claims the winds are howling over 60 mph. The words in the upper left corner of the screen say Winds 29mph, Gusts 48. That’s a Spring day in the Texas panhandle. Disappointing.

  4. Looking at Google Maps of the area I believe where Siedel stood, it is possible that the two men walking behind him were in the lee of a group of trees as they headed for the bridge going off to the right of the viewer.

  5. When one stands in a windstorm, it is common to brace oneself facing into the wind. Mike is bracing himself with the wind at his back. This makes no sense! Can we trust Mike Siedel (or the weather channel which is defending him) anymore?
