CNN revealed Monday that another suspicious package had been intercepted that was addressed to the cable news channel. Variety reports that the latest package was found at a postal facility in Atlanta.
“CNN emphasized that mail sent to its New York offices is now being screened at an offsite facility, as is the case for all mail sent to CNN’s domestic bureaus,” Variety notes.
In a statement, CNN chief Jeff Zucker said: “There is no imminent danger to the CNN Center. This package would not have come directly to CNN Center, even if it hadn’t been intercepted first.”
Variety adds: “Word of the latest package comes as the nation is reeling from news of the mail bombs and the horrific slayings on Saturday of 11 members of the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh by a gunman suspected of shouting anti-Semitic statements before opening fire on worshipers. President Trump has faced mounting criticism for what many commentators feel is his divisive political rhetoric and alarmist efforts to galvanize GOP voters in the Nov. 6 midterm election.”
