A series that won a Peabody Award earlier this year has been canceled after running for two seasons on Netflix. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the streaming service pulled the plug on the true-crime parody “American Vandal.”
The series, which rolled out its eight-episode second season on Sept. 14, will be shopped to other distributors, the report notes.
“Sources say producers CBS TV Studios have received multiple calls to revive the series for a third season elsewhere, as producers had already been plotting what season three of the anthology would be,” THR reports.
“American Vandal” received generally positive reviews, and was honored back in April with a Peabody Award for its first season.
In a statement, Netflix said: “‘American Vandal’ will not return for a third season. We’re very grateful to the creators, writers, cast and crew for bringing their innovative comedy to Netflix, and to the fans and critics who embraced its unique and unconventional humor.”
