The Fox broadcast network will have a new leader starting next month, with news breaking Friday that AMC Networks President and General Manager Charlie Collier has been named CEO of Entertainment for the network. Deadline reports that Collier will begin his new job Nov. 1.

“New Fox Chairman and CEO Lachlan Murdoch looked outside for a leader of the soon-to-be independent Fox broadcast network that will emerge after Disney’s acquisition of key Fox assets,” Deadline reports.

The report adds: “Fox TV Group Chairman and CEO Gary Newman, who had been in negotiations to stay on and oversee the broadcast network as it ushers in a new era as an indie, will be leaving at the end of the season, after helping with the transition. Fellow Fox TV Group Chairman and CEO Dana Walden also will be departing for a high-level job at the combined Disney-Fox TV operation.”

Deadline notes that Collier’s appointment is the last in a series of announcements as Fox has now set the senior leadership for the company that will emerge following the $71.3 billion Disney acquisition.

The report quotes an internal memo today from Murdoch announcing the appointment of Collier, in which Murdoch says: “Charlie is a singular talent, combining creative success with operational expertise to lead the AMC Network with some of television’s most memorable programming. Charlie’s skills and experience will help Fox continue to transform the broadcast television business.”
