Plans have just been unveiled for a new TV project that will star Academy Award and Tony winner Marcia Gay Harden. The actress, who is also an Emmy nominee, will star in the Lifetime feature “Love You to Death.”
The movie comes from Sony Pictures Television and Davis Entertainment Television, and is directed by Alex Kalymnios, who directed Lifetime’s highly rated “Cleveland Abduction” in 2015.
Lifetime’s announcement describes the project as “the twisted story of a controlling mother and her seemingly sick daughter that ends in a murder no one could have predicted.”
Harden plays Camile, the mother of Esme, her sickly, wheelchair-bound daughter. Read further only if you don’t mind SPOILERS.
Lifetime says of the story: “They seem a perfect pair until Camile is found stabbed to death in her home, and Esme has vanished, believed to be kidnapped by the killer. But when Esme is found, a terrible secret emerges. Esme was not kidnapped. Instead she ran away with her boyfriend after working with him to murder Camile. More than that, Esme is perfectly healthy, mentally and physically, and has been a victim of Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy, forced to believe she was ill by her controlling, abusive mother.”
Executive producers are Jordan Davis and John Davis. Kalymnios directs from a script written by Anthony Jaswinski.
