CBS Places Selected Shows in ‘Spotlight’ Slots Following Football

CBS announced plans Friday to run special installments of a number of its shows in spots following postseason NFL games.

Among the moves, a special episode of the first-year drama reboot “Magnum P.I.” will lead out from the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 20.

On Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 3, CBS will air a special Sunday edition of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” following the late local news airing after Super Bowl LIII.

A special Sunday installment of “The Late Late Show with James Corden” will air after local news following the AFC Championship Game on Jan. 20.

“‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,’ the #1 show in late night in all measures, has secured a special Sunday slot immediately following the late local news after Super Bowl LIII on Sunday, Feb. 3 (11:35 PM-12:37 AM, ET/8:35 PM-9:37 PM, PT; time is approximate),” CBS noted in today’s announcement. “At the conclusion of the game (and preceding local news) is the previously announced special premiere of the new competition series ‘The World’s Best’ (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/7:00-8:00 PM, PT; time is approximate after post-game coverage), hosted by ‘The Late Late Show’s’ James Corden, with judges Drew Barrymore, RuPaul Charles and Faith Hill.”

Guests for the special installments of “The Late Show” and “The Late Late Show” will be announced at a later date.
