The most popular baby names for girls and boys born in 2018 have been tallied up by the Baby Center, and for the ninth consecutive year the most popular name for girls is Sophia. On the boys’ side, Jackson is the most popular for the sixth year in a row.

Here are the top 10 names for girls, in order: Sophia, Olivia, Emma, Ava, Isabella, Aria, Riley, Amelia, Mia and Layla.

Among boys, the top 10 names in order are Jackson, Liam, Noah, Aiden, Caden, Grayson, Lucas, Mason, Oliver and Elijah.

“Oliver and Layla both jumped into the top 10, pushing out Logan and Zoe,” the Baby Center reports. “The fastest climbers of 2018 include Everly, Isla, Leo, and Carson.”

The Baby Center notes: “To capture true popularity, our exclusive baby names list combines names that sound the same but have multiple spellings (like Sophia and Sofia, or Jackson and Jaxon). Our data comes from more than 742,000 parents who shared their baby’s name with us in 2018.”
