Showtime Revives Franchise It Canceled Two Years Ago

Showtime is bringing back a title that the channel abruptly terminated a couple of years back, announcing plans today for a new chapter in the “Penny Dreadful” saga.

Calling it a “spiritual descendant of the ‘Penny Dreadful’ story,” which was set in Victorian-era London, Showtime revealed that the new installment, “Penny Dreadful: City of Angels,” opens in 1938 Los Angeles, “a time and place deeply infused with Mexican-American folklore and social tension.”

John Logan, the creator, writer and executive producer of the original series, is back on board in those same roles.
