In an incident captured on live TV — you can see the video below — a sports commentator suffered a heart attack while on the air on a national Turkish television channel.
The New York Post reports that Sukru Oytan suffered the attack just 10 days after being fitted with a pacemaker. In clips of the incident, which have gone viral, Oytan is seen slumping to his desk in the midst of a game analysis, to the alarm of on-air colleague Guven Sabaz.
Oytan then suddenly falls off his chair, winding up on the studio floor.
“Turkish media report that Oytan suffered a heart attack on air and was rushed to the hospital, where he is now in stable condition,” The Post reports, adding: “In a statement, the local television channel said that 10 days prior to the incident, the broadcaster had undergone a procedure to have a pacemaker fitted after being diagnosed with arrhythmia — slow or irregular heartbeats.”
