AFI Names Top 10 Films and TV Programs of the Year

The American Film Institute has named its top 10 films and TV programs of the year, which will be recipients of the AFI Awards 2018. The awards will be presented Jan. 4 at a private luncheon in Los Angeles.

The 10 television programs to be honored are “Atlanta,” “The Americans,” “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story,” “Barry,” “Better Call Saul,” “The Kominsky Method,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Pose,” “Succession” and “This Is Us.”

The 10 honored films are “Black Panther,” ″A Star Is Born,” “Mary Poppins Returns,” “A Quiet Place,” ″The Favourite,” Barry Jenkins’ James Baldwin adaptation “If Beale Street Could Talk,” Bo Burnham’s coming-of-age film “Eighth Grade,” ″BlacKkKlansman,” ″First Reformed” and “Green Book.”

Alfonso Cuaron’s “Roma,” which did not meet the criteria for American films, will receive a special award from the group.
