Full Written Report of CBS Moonves Investigation Apparently Doesn’t Exist

CBS employees who are demanding to see a full report of the company’s four-month-long investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against former company Chairman and CEO Leslie Moonves — and into allegations that a sexist culture has persisted at the network — are going to be disappointed, The New York Post reports.

That’s because no final written report was produced, the publication reports, citing a source with direct knowledge of the situation. The investigation was conducted by law firms Debevoise & Plimpton and Covington & Burling.

“On Dec. 17, the board was given a verbal report and then it denied Moonves a $120 million severance, concluding that ‘harassment and retaliation are not pervasive at CBS,’ according to a memo from the board,” The Post reports. “The only document produced by the firms was a 59-page summary report, a source said. The summary was leaked to the New York Times earlier this month.”

The Post adds: “The CBS staff assumption was that a finalized report based on countless interviews was being prepared for review for the CBS board, and then possibly made public.”

CBS declined to comment, but a source is quoted saying: “No report was made so that CBS could protect itself. If the report exists, people can try and discover it [during litigation].”

  1. This appears to be a clever maneuver by the highly paid legal eagles to have the alleged report scuttled in the public arena. How can any reasonable person ever believe that members of the Board of Directors at CBS would simply listen to a verbal summary of investigative findings rather than be given the opportunity to read the report and discuss any questions it raises.

At the end of the day we are led to believe that Moonves will not be receiving his severance yet the details suggest that CBS will cover any related litigation expenses incurred by Moonves should he contest the decision. Does this make any sense to anyone that has an IQ of over 150?
