Donald Trump tore into one of his frequent sparring partners after she committed a blunder on live TV.
After MSNBC fixture Mika Brzezinski made a comment that many viewers consider homophobic, Trump got on the Twitter this morning and wrote: “If it was a Conservative that said what ‘crazed’ Mika Brzezinski stated on her show yesterday, using a certain horrible term, that person would be banned permanently from television….”
Trump also tweeted: “….She will probably be given a pass, despite their terrible ratings. Congratulations to @RichardGrenell, our great Ambassador to Germany, for having the courage to take this horrible issue on!”
The Daily Beast described Brzezinski’s misstep as the “Butt Boy” debacle, reporting that “Brzezinski drew ire from both sides of the aisle for calling Secretary of State Mike Pompeo a ‘wannabe dictator’s butt-boy.’”
The Daily Beast also reported: “Brzezinski’s comment came in response to Pompeo’s handling of the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.”
The publication notes that Brzezinski was “immediately apologetic” following her remark, taking to Twitter on Wednesday to tweet: “SUPER BAD choice of words… SO SORRY!”
She was off “Morning Joe” on Thursday, but her co-host and husband Joe Scarborough attributed her absence to “a long-planned family event.” Brzezinski is expected back on the show Friday.
As a gay person, I didn’t even care. I heard it as brow nosing. I love how the right wing media took over this and spammed it though. They wanted to show everyone is as prejudice as they are and it’s not the case at all.
Straight people….stop claiming outrage for gay people. We can do it ourselves. I’m sure other races, religions, etc feel the same…
Christopher, tell that to Kevin Hart ! Seems to me like your pretty selective with your outrage (by the way, what exactly IS “brow nosing”)?? Honestly, if a conservative on TV or radio had said this the moral outrage would have been nuclear. Mika should be done, plain and simple. If she keeps her job this is a prime example that a lot of this “moral outrage” is just as phony as a lot of the national news these days.
