ABC Expands Order for Drama Series

A drama series that has been one of ABC’s signature shows just received an expanded order from the network. ABC announced the order today for three additional episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy,” bringing the total order for the 2018-19 season to 25 episodes.

Currently in its 15th season, “Grey’s Anatomy” is on track to become the longest-running prime-time medical drama in the history of television during the second half of the current season. The show’s midseason return is set for Thursday, Jan. 17.

The network noted in the announcement that “Grey’s Anatomy” ranks as its No. 1 TV show of the 2018-2019 season, delivering a 3.1 average rating/13 share in adults 18-49.

“Grey’s Anatomy” stars Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey, Justin Chambers as Alex Karev, Chandra Wilson as Miranda Bailey, James Pickens Jr. as Richard Webber, Kevin McKidd as Owen Hunt, Jesse Williams as Jackson Avery, Caterina Scorsone as Amelia Shepherd, Camilla Luddington as Jo Wilson, Kelly McCreary as Maggie Pierce, Kim Raver as Teddy Altman and Giacomo Gianniotti as Andrew DeLuca.

The series was created and is executive produced by Shonda Rhimes. Betsy Beers, Mark Gordon (“Saving Private Ryan”), Krista Vernoff (“Shameless”), Debbie Allen, Zoanne Clack, Fred Einesman, Andy Reaser and Meg Marinis are executive producers. “Grey’s Anatomy” is produced by ABC Studios.
