Networks Announce Plans for Tonight’s Trump Address

The major broadcast networks are adjusting their prime-time schedules tonight, Tuesday, Jan. 8, to work in a special address to the nation by Donald Trump that is expected to focus on border security.

The address is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET.

ABC said its coverage is expected to be 10-15 minutes long. “Following news coverage, in ET/CT/MT, the scheduled prime time programming will air in its entirety followed by 35 minutes of local programming,” ABC said. “In PT, ‘World News Tonight with David Muir’ will be joined in progress.”

CBS provided the following revised schedule:

EAST COAST LINEUP:

8:00-9:00 PM:             NCIS (Original episode)

9:00-9:30 PM:             CBS NEWS SPECIAL REPORT: PRESIDENT TRUMP ADDRESS TO THE NATION AND DEMOCRATIC RESPONSE

9:30-10:00 PM:           THE NEIGHBORHOOD (Repeat)

10:00-11:00 PM:         NCIS: NEW ORLEANS (Repeat)

WEST COAST LINEUP:

8:00-9:00 PM:             NCIS (Original episode)

9:00-9:30 PM:             THE NEIGHBORHOOD (Repeat)

9:30-10:00 PM:           THE NEIGHBORHOOD (Repeat)

10:00-11:00 PM:         NCIS: NEW ORLEANS (Repeat)

CBS noted that previously announced original episodes of “FBI” and “NCIS: New Orleans” will be broadcast Tuesday, Jan. 15. CBS also noted that CBSN will begin coverage at 8:30 p.m. ET.

NBC announced that news coverage will begin at 9 p.m. ET (8 p.m. C), followed by a repeat of “Ellen’s Game of Games,” joined in progress. An original “Ellen’s Game of Games” is scheduled for 8-9 p.m., and an original “New Amsterdam” is slotted for 10-11 p.m.
