The death certificate for actress Penny Marshall revealed that the longtime “Laverne & Shirley” star died of heart failure, heart disease and complications from diabetes, TMZ reports.
Marshall, who died Dec. 17 in her home in the Hollywood Hills, was best known for her performance as Laverne DeFazio in the ABC sitcom, which aired from 1976-1983. The show was a spinoff from “Happy Days.”
“We obtained Penny’s death certificate, issued Monday … and it lists heart failure as the primary cause of death,” TMZ reports. “The document also says cardiovascular disease and diabetes were contributing factors.”
Marshall became a successful director after “Laverne & Shirley,” including directing the hit films “Big,” “The Preacher’s Wife” and “League of Their Own.”
