Trump Secures Network Time for Big Announcement

Donald Trump has obtained a block of time on the major broadcast television networks this Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET, when it is presumed he will declare a state of national emergency that will clear the way for building a southern border wall.

Trump sent out a tweet hinting at what he has in mind, which you can see below.

“Trump said he had proudly shut down the government to extract border wall financing from Congress; the government shutdown has hit Week 3 with no end in sight,” Deadline reports. “Declaring a national emergency allows Trump to thwart Congress and take money from the Department of Defense to finance the concrete wall he promised would be paid for by Mexico, which has morphed into a steel barrier financed by tax dollars.”

The report notes that Trump had asked the networks for about eight minutes of airtime.

“But, of course, the Democrats will want time to respond, making the amount of time lost to the broadcasters about half an hour,” Deadline notes. The report indicates that CBS was the first to agree to the request, with ABC, NBC and Fox all soon following suit.

Earlier in the day, Trump sent out tweets bashing the media, writing: “With all of the success that our Country is having, including the just released jobs numbers which are off the charts, the Fake News & totally dishonest Media concerning me and my presidency has never been worse. Many have become crazed lunatics who have given up on the TRUTH!…

“…The Fake News will knowingly lie and demean in order make the tremendous success of the Trump Administration, and me, look as bad as possible. They use non-existent sources & write stories that are total fiction. Our Country is doing so well, yet this is a sad day in America!”

  1. They should refuse time other than cable news. He hurts himself if it’s ‘boy who cried wolf’ in content.

  2. democrat response should include a Jim Jones type kool aid party…..start stirring

  3. The guy’s a bull-goose looney. The sooner he’s tossed out the better…though then we’ll have the far-right fruitcake Pence to deal with. This country’s in bad shape.

  4. He should not be given any time unless someone is fact checking him and showing the truth in supers.

  5. Everyone is forgetting one thing: It is not the networks airwaves. They belong to the people of this country. If the President is speaking, ALL U.S. citizens deserve the right to hear what he says.
