Two Films Lead Oscar Nominations With 10 Each — We Have the Full List of Nominees, Plus Snubs and Surprises

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences took the wraps off its 2019 Oscar nominations Tuesday morning, with “The Favourite” and “Roma” leading the way with 10 nominations each.

According to The Hollywood Reporter: “Both movies are nominated for best picture for the 91st Oscars alongside ‘BlacKkKlansman,’ ‘Black Panther,’ ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ ‘Green Book,’ ‘A Star Is Born’ and ‘Vice.’ ‘A Star is Born’ and ‘Vice’ also were dominant in the 2019 Oscar nominations, earning eight apiece, followed by ‘Black Panther’ with seven, ‘BlacKkKlansman’with six and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and ‘Green Book’ with five each.”

On Variety’s list of top snubs were no nominations for Bradley Cooper as best director, and no acting nominations for Timothee Chalamet (“Beautiful Boy”), John David Washington (“BlacKkKlansman”), and Emily Blunt (“Mary Poppins Returns” and “A Quiet Place”). Listed by Variety as pleasant surprises were Willem Dafoe for acting in “At Eternity’s Gate,” and Pawel Pawlikowski for directing “Cold War.”

The 91st Oscar telecast will be broadcast Sunday, Feb. 24, on ABC.
