Game show icon Alex Trebek, who has been the host of genre mainstay “Jeopardy!” since, well, just about forever, discussed who he thinks should replace him on the show when the time comes — including, we think, joking about it.
The New York Post’s Page Six reports that Trebek talked about it during an appearance at the 92nd Street Y.
“It’s probably going to be a woman, somebody younger, somebody bright, somebody personable, somebody with a great sense of humor,” Trebek said, “So I nominated Betty White.”
He also reportedly named some serious candidates, including CNN’s Laura Coates, LA Kings announcer Alex Faust and TCM’s Ben Mankiewicz.
The Post adds that Trebek also revealed: “I always wanted to be governor general of Canada. … It’s mostly PR. You travel the country, you make people feel good about themselves.”
