The Grammy Awards, coming up ths Sunday, Feb. 10, will apparently have to get by without pop star Ariana Grande. Variety reports that Grande pulled out of the event after getting into a beef with the show’s producers.

The clash was reportedly over which songs Grande would perform during the ceremony. Variety reports that Grande, “who has been featured on billboards promoting the show all over Los Angeles, not only won’t be performing at the Feb. 10 show, she will not even be attending it, according to sources close to the situation.”

The report adds: “An insider tells Variety that Grande felt ‘insulted’ after producers initially refused to allow her to perform ‘7 Rings,’ the latest single from her forthcoming album ‘Thank U, Next’ (which arrives Friday, two days before the Grammys). A compromise was reached whereby ‘7 Rings’ would be part of a medley, but Grande pulled out after producers insisted that the second song be of their choosing.”

Variety’s source noted that similar stipulations were not placed on other performers involved with the ceremony.

  1. The real cause for Ariana Grande’s withdrawal from the upcoming Grammy Awards show is another tattoo misadventure.

This one is in the shape of a doughnut, covers the lower third of the pop singer’s face and spells out PoonDolt in what looks like chocolate icing. All of that might have been fine, but the selection of chocolate icing and very bold font used raises issues of cultural misappropriation.

On the other hand, Ariana Grande has become immediately eligible to run for governor of Virginia.
